Transportation
The Courtyards is conveniently located next to the UMD campus on Route 193, otherwise known as University Boulevard. Below is information about resident parking, visitor parking, The Courtyards stops for the UMD Shuttle Bus, proximity to the Metro station, and more.
Resident Parking
Each Courtyards resident is eligible to park their car in the community for free. All vehicles must be registered to the resident or the resident’s parents/guardian. Residents must register their car at the Courtyards Management Office prior to parking in the Courtyards and must park legally following all posted parking regulations. Parking registration must be renewed for each lease year.
Be advised: The Department of Transportation will issue tickets and/or tow inappropriately parked vehicles 24-hours a day, 7 days a week using the same enforcement guidelines as all other campus lots. All complaints and appeals regarding parking enforcement are handled by the University of Maryland Department Of Transportation Services. Parking Permits
All residents parking a vehicle at The Courtyards may do so at no additional cost. However, each vehicle must be registered with the Management Office prior to parking on site. The Courtyards parking is enforced by the University of Maryland Department of Transportation Services. Each resident may only register one (1) vehicle with The Courtyards. Parking is enforced utilizing Digital License Plate Recognition vehicles, meaning no physical hang tags are distributed or required.
To register a vehicle with The Courtyards, the resident may visit the Management Office during normal business hours of 9 AM to 5 PM Monday through Friday. A valid drivers license and original state vehicle registration form must be provided. Residents may only register their own regular-use vehicle. Courtyards parking for residents is identified as Lot 8. Residents must re-register their vehicle at the start of each lease year. Changes to vehicle registration requires appropriate documentation. Frequent changes may result in a charge.
Bicycles
Resident bicycles may be parked at any bike rack in the Courtyards Community. Residents must register their bicycles with the University of Maryland and then with the Courtyards. Guests may park their bicycles at the Clubhouse bike racks for up to one hour.
Mopeds & Scooters
Mopeds/scooters are welcome at The Courtyards. They may be parked at any designated “Moped Parking Only” location within the community. Three convenient locations are located between buildings 300 and 400, within the horseshoe parking lot of 100/200 and in the rear of 700 parallel to the recycle station. Parking and/or storage of mopeds/scooters in hallways, apartments, on bike racks, or on balconies is against the fire code and strictly prohibited.
All scooter parking at The Courtyards is enforced by the Department of Transportation Services and subject to all UMD scooter policies. Please visit their website at http://www.transportation.umd.edu/scooter.html for further information about scooter restrictions and registration.
Visitor Parking
Visitors are welcome to briefly park in the spaces restricted for 15-minute usage during the hours of 7:00AM and 4:00PM. These spaces are provided directly in front of the Clubhouse, and marked as 15-minute spaces. Your visitors are welcome to freely park here for longer periods outside the hours of 7:00AM and 4:00PM.
Visitors may also park in the metered spaces provided in the outermost row of parking between buildings 100 and 600, nearest building 100. Between the hours of 7:00AM and 10:00PM these spaces are enforced. Visitors are welcome to freely park in these spaces outside these hours. ADA parking is available throughout the property in designated spaces.
Lot 10a is available for visitor parking Monday – Friday from 4pm to 7am and all day on Saturday and Sunday. Please see the below map for the location of 10a parking, which is across from Building 600. Please note, lot 10 parking is not the same as 10a and is restricted for faculty and staff parking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
As always, short-term (15 minute) parking is available in front of the Clubhouse from 7:00 am to 4:00pm Monday—Friday. Please note that extended parking in short-term visitor spaces during these times may result in towing, which will occur at the owner’s expense.
Shuttle
The Courtyards is serviced by Shuttle UM and offers service Monday-Friday during the day and the Purple Line at night and during the weekends. Shuttle UM is free to ride. The Purple Line follow the service schedule controlled by the Department of Transportation Services. You may view the route information for both lines and the schedules by visiting http://www.transportation.umd.edu/schedules.html The Courtyards is conveniently located nearly several shopping locations. Beltway Plaza Mall and The Mall at Prince Georges are on the University Shuttle Route and offer a wide array of stores and services.
Metro Access
The College Park metro station (4931 Calvert Road College Park, MD) is 1.7 miles from our community. The College Park metro station offers daily parking as well as numerous bike racks and lockers. This metro station is accessible on the free University Shuttle system.
The Greenbelt metro station (5717 Greenbelt Metro Drive Greenbelt, MD) is 3 miles from our community. The Greenbelt metro station offers daily parking as well as numerous bike racks and lockers.
