Many services are available the majority of the day. Emergency services are always available through the offices in the clubhouse or by calling the RA on Duty after hours. Resident Handbook

Keys
Each resident is provided 3 keys at check-in: one for their front door, one for their bedroom door, and one for their mailbox. Residents are strictly prohibited from sharing or duplicating any keys, and they are responsible for returning their key at the conclusion of their lease.

If you lose your keys, it is extremely important to notify the Courtyards immediately.  As a safety precaution, we will change the locks on both your apartment front door and your individual bedroom.

Lost keys will be replaced at the expense of the resident.

Newsletter
The Terp Exchange gives our residents important information and reminders about upcoming events, deadlines, policies, etc.  This newsletter is sent via email to each resident.  The newsletter covers monthly information like upcoming programs, happenings in the community, monthly contest winners, and more!

Fitness Center
Located in the Clubhouse, the Fitness Center offers treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes for cardio exercise. There are also universal machine weights for weight training. A TV is available to keep you occupied while you exercise, and a bottle filling station is located nearby to ensure you stay hydrated during your workout. For your convenience, the Fitness Center is available when the Clubhouse is open.
Recreational Facilities
The Rec Room is also located in the Clubhouse and offers a myriad of entertainment options when you need a break from studying. Game tables available include billiards, and table tennis. There is also seating available as a study space or for hanging out with your Courtyards neighbors. Equipment for the game tables can be borrowed at no charge from the After Hours Desk.
Study Areas

In addition to spacious bedrooms and living rooms within the apartments, the Courtyards has study areas available in the Clubhouse. The main area of the Clubhouse has tables set up as well as comfortable couches to relax in while pouring over reading material. Additionally, there are chairs and a table available in the Rec Room for group study sessions. If you need a study break, a television is also in this area.

Computer Lab

In the Clubhouse, there is one computer with an attached printer available for your use. These services are free to use, however residents must provide their own paper.

Volleyball Court
Courtyards provides a volleyball court next to Building 200. A volleyball is available for rent at the After Hours desk. Upon move-out, please complete a Change of Address form in our office, in a local Post Office or online at USPS website (there is a $1.00 service fee charged by USPS for completing the Online Change of Address process).

Additional Mail Information
Mail service is provided to the Courtyards by the United States Postal Service, not campus mail. Each apartment is issued a communal mailbox located adjacent to the Clubhouse and each resident is issued a key at check-in to access the mailbox. The structure that holds the mailboxes also has a slot for outgoing mail.

As a Courtyard’s lease holder you authorize the Courtyards to accept packages, parcels, and deliveries on your behalf. However, packages will not be accepted until a resident officially checks in.  As a lease holder you agree to hold Courtyards free of liability or responsibility for packages, parcels, or deliveries should they be lost, damaged, or otherwise harmed. Furthermore, Residents understand that if packages, parcels or deliveries are not claimed within fourteen (14) days, they will either be returned to the sender or discarded as Landlord deems appropriate.

Packages are logged daily by the Courtyards staff when the package delivery company is unable to deliver directly to the apartment. When a package is delivered for a resident, the resident will receive an e-mail notifying him/her of the package. Packages can be claimed Monday through Thursday 9AM-10PM, Friday 9AM-5PM, Saturday 10AM-8PM, and Sunday 12PM-10PM. A valid University I.D. is required to claim your packages.

When expecting a package, The Courtyards asks that you come to claim your package only after you have received the email that informs you it has been received.  Some delivery companies deliver directly to your door, and USPS will deliver smaller packages directly to your mailbox.  Due to the volume of packages received, we are unable to search for packages prior to them being logged.

Waste Management

General Information

Trash and recycling receptacles are available for resident use at the back of the Courtyards property near the rear entrance gate. Additionally, there are receptacles located behind Building 100 and next to Building 300. Residents are expected to dispose of all household waste at these locations. Discarding bags of trash and/or recycling in the small garbage cans throughout the property is prohibited. This causes the cans to fill quickly and overflow, and is more likely to attract animals and pests.

Any trash or recycling bags left outside of apartments or on balconies remain the responsibility of residents. If trash or recycling is found outside of your apartment or on your balcony, it will not be removed by Courtyards staff. In addition, each resident of the apartment will be billed $15 per bag/item for each day that the bag/item remains.

Recycling at the Courtyards

Here at the Courtyards we are able to “commingle” our recyclables!  That means you can put all of your recyclable items into one container without sorting, and the sorting will be done by the recyclers.  Comingled Recycling is easy and accepts a wide range of materials.  Recycling reduces the amount of garbage you put out for collection, which helps us all in the long run!  Below is a list of items that CAN be recycled:

  • Paper: Newspaper, magazines, computer paper
  • Plastic Containers: #1-7 bottles, jugs, trays, etc.
  • Cardboard: cereal boxes, frozen food packaging, etc.
  • Aluminum: cans, containers, foil, pie pans, etc.
  • Books: paperback, textbooks, hardback, phone
  • Steel/Tin Cans: soup cans, fruit cans, etc.
  • Waxed Cartons: milk and juice cartons
  • Glass: jars and bottles
  • Plastic Bags/Film: must be contained within one bag
