All residents who are not returning to their same bedroom for the 2018-19 lease year are required to move out by Sunday, July 29 at 12pm. Please note that mail is not forwarded by The Courtyards after a resident moves out. To have mail forwarded, please visit the USPS website.
Apartment/Bedroom Move-Out Checklist
- Remove all personal belongings.
- Remove tacks or nails.
- Wipe down furniture with cloth to remove dust.
- Wipe down sinks, all bathroom areas, clean mirrors.
- Sweep tile flooring and mopping may be necessary if sticky or residue is on tile floor.
- Empty cabinets and wipe them out.
- Clean out your items of the fridge.
- Wipe off the stove.
- Clean inside and outside of microwave.
Checking Out At Clubhouse
No appointment is necessary. You will be able to check-out anytime the Clubhouse is open. Keep in mind the Clubhouse will be closed on Memorial Day (Monday, May 28) and July 4th. Our student staff will provide you with an envelope to fill out, you will fill out a key card form that you signed at check-in, then you’re done. It will only take a few minutes. If you do not check-out while the Clubhouse is open you will be charged a $100 improper check-out fee (example: leaving keys on your bed). If you lose any of your keys you will be charged the following: $150 front door, $150 bedroom, $30 mailbox. If you lose all three keys you will be charged $330. We will not accept keys by mail.
If you would like to claim responsibility for damages in your apartment please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your name and what you are claiming responsibility for. This would prevent your roommates from receiving these charges. All damages will be divided equally among residents of the apartment if no one claims responsibility.
During The Lease Year
During the lease year, residents may be required to move-out due to academic / judicial ineligibility or voluntary re-leasing. Residents who check-out prior to the conclusion of their lease without a re-lessor remain financially responsible for their lease. Departing residents must remove all belongings and properly check-out with the Management Office or After Hours Desk by the provided date. After a resident moves out, regardless of the time of year or relation to the conclusion of the lease, a move out inspection will be conducted by management. The departing resident will be held responsible for cleanliness and damage in their bedroom. All residents of the apartment share responsibility for any damage in the common areas. If a bathroom is shared, responsibility for damage and cleanliness will be shared by the residents. For non-shared bathrooms, the individual resident will be responsible.
Residents who need to stay at The Courtyards between July 30 and August 22 should renew their lease for the exact same bedroom. For some extenuating circumstances, the management staff does consider applications for direct transfer, in which a resident who is transferring may move directly from their current apartment to their new apartment. These circumstances are extremely limited and only approved under the most severe of circumstances that could not be planned for, as they create difficulty in management of the apartment make-ready process. To request a direct transfer accommodation, residents should submit a Direct Transfer Application by May 30.
